We have been in our house for almost two years now (so hard to believe!) and my basement is finally getting close to being done. I thought I would share some pictures although I didn't take any before pictures so you don't really get to see what progress has been made. I love the accents of cobalt blue and there will be more once I'm done!
I'm especially proud of my curtain which was on my to-do list FOREVER! My first problem was that I decided I would make it myself...well I don't sew. I would like to more but I have a horribly cheap sewing machine which really doesn't work. I also read multiple tutorials on how to DIY a roman shade but this presented my second problem. I didn't need the shade to actually work since I have plantation shutters and didn't want to spend the time or money on adding the drawstring. After lots of thinking about how I would create this I finally mustered up the courage and borrowed my neighbor's sewing machine (thanks Kayla!) and got it done...and am so happy with the result!
In case you are curious to see how I hung it here is a view of the hardware.
The top is stapled onto a 2x4 which I cut to the width of the window. I hand-sewed a washer (those flat metal donut-shaped things used with screws) on each side of the fabric at each length where I wanted a pleat. I screwed one of those gold hook screws on each side for the washers to hang on to create the pleats. I then hung each washer on the hook starting with the bottom one. This was so fast and easy to do once I finally figured out my plan and just got started. I 'm sure I'm not the only person that does this but I build things up to be much harder in my head and then I'm surprised when I actually do them and realize how easy it was. Certainly not all projects fall in this category but this one definitely did.

Sure doesn't look like a basement but a page out of a decorating magazine! And I agree with Brian....
