Roman Shades

I just bought this fabric to make a faux roman shade for my basement:

Can't wait for it to arrive...I bought it online which is a little scary but I think the color should be just fine.  I don't need it to be a functional shade (it doesn't have to actually go up and down) because I have plantation shutters so that is why it will be a "faux" shade.  This is a great tutorial for how to do this super easy and cheap...no sewing even!  However, my problem is that I'm not installing it inside my window frame because of my shutters so I'm going to follow this tutorial.  This can be an easy and inexpensive way to get a designer look for your windows.  Here is a picture of my inspiration...the original roman shade that I found on Etsy and LOVED but didn't want to pay that much especially when I only wanted it to be decorative

I'll be sure to show you how it looks when I have it done and installed!

Oooh how fun! Yes please post a picture when you are done! Or I should just come over and see it when it's finished!

Those look awesome! One thing I really can't wait for being settled in a home is window treatments, but they are so expensive, so this looks like a great way to DIY. Thanks for sharing your ideas and talent so that maybe someday I'll figure out how to decorate.

Love it, and I am all about anything that you don't have to sew. Can't wait to see the final product.

Julia you could do this even when you rent! The first tutorial shows how to hang the fabric using three tension rods that just fit within your window...so no holes in the walls!
