We have started clearing out what was our office/junk room to begin creating a bedroom for baby boy. We bought a crib that Dan so excitedly shared with you here and got that set up last week. Funny story about that- as I held up the sides and ends of the crib Dan drilled the pieces together and as he put the last piece on I had a panic attack realizing I was sitting in the middle of the finished crib. "Dan, how am I going to get out!?" To which he calmly replied while laughing at me just a little bit that he would just lift the crib up so I could crawl out. We had a good laugh! My mom is going to help me with sewing projects for the crib skirt and window treatment. We are in the process of selecting fabric for a rocker/recliner chair- so excited for that because I have a feeling I am going to spend a lot of time in it! And one other necessary project is to change the oh-so-girlie light fixture currently in the room. We are talking scrolling leaves, flowers, and crystals which is really cute but definitely for a girlie-girl bedroom. I want to put in a pendant drum light similar to this one:
And found a tutorial for how to do it yourself on this blog I stumbled upon- Thrifty Decor Chick. So I have a trip to Lowes on my to-do list! I also am really liking simple whale prints and will probably get a couple for the room. This one from Fawn & Forest was one of my favorites:

Meg, I love it!
I went to both those sites, btw - love the prints on F&F and the tutorial is pretty neat. I wanted to do something like that in our bedroom but unfortunately no recessed lights there. Now I'm toying with the idea of converting one in the kitchen...I like the idea of a pendant light; it's more like what I am used to from home. Hmmm...Wheels spinning. I may have a visit to Lowe's coming up too. (Do you have any ideas for where to get shades, btw?)
hahaha ... i have to say that "simple whale prints" is very specific and pretty random :) that took me by surprise, i laughed
