Cooking Disaster

Usually on blogs we talk about accomplishments, trips, cool things we have going on....well not today. I bought some bread bowls earlier this week thinking soup served in bread bowls would be an easy yet still heartly meal. Well when I looked in the cupboard to get out the soup that I also bought I discovered that Dan already ate the soup. But that was ok....I'll just make homemade potato soup...I have a recipe from one of my sisters. I soon discovered that I didn't have parsley or onion....who needs parsley I thought and I'll just use onion powder. So I start making potato soup and Dan asks, "Isn't it supposed to be creamy?" Yes I thought in my head so I'll just add a little milk and flour. Ok long story short.....it wasn't good at all. After we ate though Dan ran next door to borrow a movie and as he walked back in he said, "Their apartment smelled so good from their dinner" and I responded with a frown. I provided an awful dinner tonight! HaHa What made it so funny though was that as I cleaned up and was putting the recipe card away I saw that there were more instructions on the back! Turns out I was supposed to add milk and flour (I was proud of myself for guessing on that) but also a lot of butter. Anyway...just wanted to share a part of our life that wasn't fun, cool, or exciting because sometimes...life just isn't.

Sorry, we had a dinner like that earlier in the week. The meat tasted awful and the potatoes were still hard. Luckily, that doesn't happen too often, We watched a movie that night also.

There you have it...
So when people want to know if you, Meg, have ANY (yes I said ANY) flaws, you can say, "yeah, there was this one night when I made this soup..." ;-)

Maybe it was a bad dinner, but it was a good memory :) And I'm impressed that you decided to make homemade soup. I would have sent JD out to buy more. So, I think you still did pretty well!

Amen to that! One of our now favorite recipes has come to be known as "poo pasta" because the first time we made it I thought it was awful. We laugh about it every time, even though have almost perfected it now :)
