Happy Turkey Day!

This picture made me laugh so I had to share. I hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving. We are headed up to the Darrows' in Twin Falls, Idaho and are looking forward to playing with the kids, hopefully playing a little family friendly football, and eating lots of yummy food!

Explosion, Beefsteak, Weedeater, Batman

So...Meg is getting visiting taught, and since the blog has recently displayed cupcakes, dresses, and a post entitled, "Love is in the Air"...I've decided that the blog needs my virile, masculine touch.

So....this post is entitled, "Explosion, Beefsteak, Weedeater, Batman.". .....The most manly words I could think of in the last 47 seconds. I shall now use each in a sentence to show off it's manliness.

1) Even small nuclear devices with yields equivilant to several thousand tons of TNT can devistate a city with explosions closer to the relative damage of millions of tons of TNT. oooo....powerful...tingly...all sensations coursing through my body at this moment
2) What? A brokwurst? HUH? I don't know what the heck you just said....just slap a beefsteak on the grill for me and i'll get the Kingston charcoal. ahh....BBQ...steak....man meat....

3) I ain't payin' no stinkin' individual $200 to come and trim my hedges.... Just give me $1.87 to gass up my Weadeater and I'll be spankin' dandellions till the cows come home. ..wow....gas powered machinery......power.....

4) Du nah du nah du nah du nah BATMAN! ahhh...muscles....the batmobile....kevlar body suit....that's pure testosterone.

Ok.....my work here is done. Feel free to leave a comment with the manliest word you can think of. Winner of the manliest word get's a small but stunningly fantastic gift come Christmas time.
Good luck.

Principle Gallery

Another place to visit for those of you in the DC area: Principle Gallery
Works by artist Lynn Boggess are currently on exhibit and are so impressive. I love how real the water in his paintings look. My dear friend Anne and I spent an afternoon in Old Town Alexandria last spring and visited this gallery. We had a wonderful time and I highly recommend this for a Saturday afternoon fieldtrip.

Love is in the Air

I tagged along with my sister Erin who took engagement pictures on Saturday for my best friend Marlayne. I snuck in this pic with her and Travis...I love them together and love to see Mar so happy. We are so excited for their wedding to celebrate their marriage and reunite with lots of friends again!

Holiday parties are coming up along with a best friend's wedding so I've started looking at dresses. I love these two I found from Kohls and JCrew.

Stranger Than Fiction

Dan and I watched this movie the other night. I had seen it before and loved it. Dan really liked it as well. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it but will say that it is like no other movie I know of and even though Will Ferrell is the main character it is nothing like his other movies (although I think he is hilarious most of the time.) This was a serious role for him. The following doesn't really give too much away but just in case you don't want to know the ending don't read anymore. Here are the last lines of the movie which I love:

"As Harold took a bite of Bavarian sugar cookie, he finally felt as if everything was going to be ok. Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies. And, fortunately, when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort, not to mention hospital gurneys and nose plugs, an uneaten Danish, soft-spoken secrets, and Fender Stratocasters, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction. And we must remember that all these things, the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties, which we assume only accessorize our days, are effective for a much larger and nobler cause. They are here to save our lives. I know the idea seems strange, but I also know that it just so happens to be true. And, so it was, a wristwatch saved Harold Crick."

Cookies

Owning a bakery would never work for me. I would eat everything I made, wouldn't have any product to then sell, and would go under faster than you could say "Bob's your uncle." I sort of feel like I am working at a bakery now. At the apartment complex I work at we provide hot chocolate and cookies for our tenants in the winter. Today was the first day we started providing cookies. And let me clarify...we don't just provide them, we bake them. We buy the cookie dough and make them in little toaster ovens. So I have direct contact with cookie dough and warm cookies out of the oven everyday now for the next several months. Don't be surprised if I end up packing on some pounds in the near future :)

View From The Top

Last night Dan's friend asked us to go on a double date with him to hike the "Y" (there is a huge white "Y" painted on the side of the mountain in Provo) and then play games. The hike ended up being slightly strenuous for Dan and I- we found ourselves out of breath and with achy knees every 20 steps! So we are a little more determined to hit the gym harder this week but the view was awesome and worth the hike. We finished the night playing Scategories (which was a fantastic thrift store find) and eating Marie Callender's apple pie a la mode. All in all it was a fun night!
